'Whirligig took many years to write. It is part one of a trilogy and I'm nearing the end of the 5th draft of the follow up book which is called, 'The Copper Road.' I work in a busy full-time job so there are days when I'm tired and ask myself if I should write less or wait until I retire. Competitions like the Wishing Shelf and the positive feedback and encouragement really help to keep me going. It It is greatly appreciated.'

Richard Buxton, author of Whirligig

'The Wishing Shelf competition was a wonderful experience all the way through. The organizer is tireless, and completely transparent about the process. The value of this award goes up significantly from all the feedback from the judges - groups of age related readers - which is something that no other award offers, and at a fraction of the entrance price. Of any award contest out there, entering the Wishing Shelf's annual competition is an absolute must.'

S D Reeves, author of Curses of Scale

'As authors we all know how tough the publishing industry is, but we also know how worthwhile the journey can be, especially when you achieve triumphs along the way. I highly recommend The Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards as a way of helping one accomplish those little victories. Writing is a very solitary job & a lifelong learning process ~ every single one of us, even bestselling authors ~ have room to improve, so it is important to be ever open to receiving feedback, critiques & suggestions so that we may polish our skills to perfection. The WSIBA does just that. When you enter these awards, they not only judge your book, for a tiny extra fee you are also provided with usable feedback as given by the readers & judges, which is so helpful. Many are put off entering book awards, due to high prices or mistrust, but there are some great ones out there who do an amazing job! These guys are one of those great ones. Highly recommended.'

Lani Sharp, author of 99.9 Ways to Create Wild Abundance & Exquisite Prosperity

'I would highly recommend the Wishing Shelf Awards to any independent author. As others have said, it's worth entering just for the feedback, which is honest and comprehensive. The best part is getting individual comments from readers. The awards themselves are professionally run, with clear communication of what to expect and when, and the benefits of being a finalist and/or a winner have been amazing. Many thanks to Edward, all the readers, and everyone else involved!'

Alex C. Vick, author of Breaking Magic

'As an author I always consider it a privilege to participate in any book awards program. Sometime the experience is underwhelming and sometimes, as in the case of the Wishing Shelf Book Awards, it is a pure pleasure. From the moment of submission to the wonderfully detailed final feedback email I was impressed with the awards program. I enjoyed the clear communication and great answers to questions. I have to say that my favorite part of the entire experience was the final feedback. So few contests offer this extra piece, but I think it is invaluable. I look forward to a future opportunity to submit another book to the Wishing Shelf Book Awards!'
